Winning in the Community: Justin Serenbetz

Thank you, Justin Serenbetz!

Meet Justin Serenbetz! He is a 7th grader here in the Roseville Community and I was so impressed with his recent projects to raise money for improvements at Buljan Middle School.

He participated in the Color Run Fundraiser with proceeds going towards new library books, athletic programs, and his personal goal of raising enough funds for a brand new scoreboard for the volleyball and basketball teams.

Justin put a plan together to visit neighbors, knock on doors, and also a plan to visit local businesses. Some people, of course, said "no" and many businesses were difficult to get a commitment from. In some cases, Justin visited multiple times before finally receiving a donation.

By visiting dozens of local businesses to share his vision and ask for their help, Justin, himself, was able to raise $5,000 of the $30,000 raised by the rest of the school! He was shocked to see how many businesses were interested in helping with his goal. 

Though he encountered some challenges, those didn’t deter him! With a determination and focus beyond his years, he continued to make connections and build relationships with local businesses and leaders in our community to improve his middle school and reach his goal.
